Real Estate Inventory – Live Local Act | Purchasing Department | Clay County, Florida

Florida Live Local Act

Florida's Live Local Act is a statewide workforce housing initiative designed to increase the development of affordable housing throughout the state. The legislation, also known as Senate Bill 102 (SB 102), provides funding and resources to support affordable and workforce housing opportunities.

Governor Ron DeSantis signed the Live Local Act into law in March 2023. As part of the legislation, Florida Statutes Section 125.379, Disposition of County Property for Affordable Housing, was amended.

The amended statute requires each county to prepare and maintain an inventory of county-owned real property that may be suitable for affordable housing development. The inventory must include properties for which the county or a dependent special district holds fee simple title and that are appropriate for affordable housing use.

The Board of County Commissioners must review the inventory at a public hearing at least once every three years. Following the review, the Board may revise the inventory and adopt a resolution identifying the applicable properties.

To encourage affordable housing development opportunities, the inventory must be made publicly available on the County's website. The current inventory can be accessed using the button at the top of this page.
