Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU)

An Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) is a habitable living unit that is added to, created within, or detached from a single-family dwelling. ADUs are intended to promote and encourage workforce housing and must provide the basic requirements for living, sleeping, eating, cooking, and sanitation.

Required Application Materials

The following items must be provided:

  • Completed ADU Application provided by Clay County.
  • Site Plan showing building locations, property dimensions, setbacks, parking, and any other relevant site information.
  • Floor Plan showing the layout and dimensions of the proposed ADU.
  • ADU Building Elevations showing the proposed appearance of the ADU and demonstrating that it is compatible with the primary dwelling in type, color, and design.
  • Photos of the existing primary dwelling, including all sides of the home.
  • Application fee.
