The Commission Auditor functions as an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve the County’s operations, providing greater accountability to Clay County residents.

Primary Objective

The primary objective of the Commission Auditor is to provide reasonable assurance that the County maintains effective operating policies and procedures. This objective is achieved by applying a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and improving internal processes. These processes encompass the County’s administrative, operational, and information systems across multiple departments.

Secondary Objective

A secondary objective of the Commission Auditor is to assist management in evaluating County operations. The Commission Auditor provides analysis, collaboration, and recommendations regarding reviewed functions to promote effective internal controls and efficient operations at a reasonable cost.
