How to Obtain a Mobile Home Permit

Submission Process:

The following are our requirements for a mobile home permit application:

  1. A copy of the recorded deed showing ownership of the property. You may obtain a copy of your deed from the Recording Department in the Clay County Courthouse or by visiting the Clerk of the Court’s site: www.clayclerk.com
  2. Driveway permit (See button at left).
  3. A plot plan/survey that shows boundary lines, the proposed building(s), and all setbacks (side, front, and rear), driveways, and sidewalks, if applicable. This shall be presented to the Zoning Division/Department. If this is approved the below applies.
  4. If any portion of the proposed building(s) lie within a flood hazard area, a flood permit shall be required.
  5. If your proposed building(s) are being served by a septic system you shall contact the Clay County Health Department for a septic tank permit. Call them at 904-278-3784.
  6. Provide Two (2) sets of Foundation and Tie-Down plans, floor plans, elevations, include Manufactured Home Installation worksheets along with booklet with proper page numbers noted. Worksheets shall be obtained from a licensed installer. Please see the links for Mobile Home Blocking Diagram and Mobile Home Worksheet.
  7. For a new Mobile Home provide a manual from the manufacturer.
  8. Fill out the Building Permit application (See button at left).

Important Notes:

  1. A Notice of Commencement shall be required on any job with a value equal to, or greater than $2,500. Please bring a picture identification, such as a driver’s license, if you require the services of a notary.
  2. Skirting of the mobile home is required by ordinance and shall be completed within thirty (30) days of the final inspection. The inspector shall inspect for tie-down and blocking at the time of inspection, prior to skirting installation.
  3. NO Mobile Homes shall be allowed that are older than 6/15/1976, no exceptions.

Approval Process:

Once your permit has been processed, you will receive an email confirmation that the permit has been approved or denied.  If payment was made online, he approved plan packet shall be available at our office location for pickup.  If the payment was made by mail or in person, you will receive your permit upon payment.
