Welcome to Camp Chowenwaw Park (pronounced Cho'-wen-waw)

Camp Chowenwaw is a 150-acre park located along Black Creek in Green Cove Springs, near the St. Johns River. The park offers a variety of outdoor recreation and educational opportunities, including:

  • Camping
  • Event and meeting facilities
  • Hiking trails and fishing areas
  • Kayak launches and paddleboard rentals
  • Volleyball court and picnic areas
  • Seasonal swimming pool
  • Museum and nature center
  • Playground

Clay County purchased the camp in 2006 from the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council with assistance from Florida Communities Trust and Florida Forever funding programs. Today, the county manages the park to preserve its natural resources, protect its history, and provide recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.

The property served as a Girl Scout camp for more than 70 years, beginning in 1933. During that time, Camp Chowenwaw created lasting memories for generations of young women throughout Northeast Florida.

Visit Camp Chowenwaw Park and discover one of Clay County's treasured outdoor destinations.
