Yard waste

Garbage and yard waste are collected on the same day.

Each household may place up to three cubic yards of yard waste (vegetative material) at the curb for collection each week. This is approximately the size of three standard ovens or three washing machines.

Smaller yard waste, such as leaves, sticks, and grass clippings, must be placed in:

  • Containers
  • Plastic bags
  • Paper yard waste bags

Each container or bag must weigh 50 pounds or less. Paper yard waste bags are available at most home improvement stores and online retailers. Existing garbage cans may also be used to hold smaller yard waste for collection.

Larger yard waste, such as tree branches and logs, must:

  • Be no longer than 4 feet
  • Be no more than 4 inches in diameter
  • Weigh no more than 50 pounds per bundle

Collection crews will tag yard waste piles that exceed the three-cubic-yard limit. Any excess material will be left at the curb.
