Hardship Exemptions

Hardship exemptions are available for qualifying individuals based on income.

Disabled Veterans Exemption

The following individuals who own and occupy a property as their homestead may qualify for an exemption from the solid waste disposal assessment:

1. A veteran who was honorably discharged with a service-connected total and permanent disability.
2. The spouse of a deceased veteran who was honorably discharged with a service-connected total and permanent disability.
3. The surviving spouse of a veteran who died from service-connected causes while serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Only one exemption may be granted per qualifying homestead property.

Each year, renewal certification forms are mailed to individuals who received the exemption during the previous fiscal year. The completed renewal form must be returned to continue receiving the exemption.

Complete the Disabled Veterans Exemption Application and submit proof of total and permanent disability to swexemptions@claycountygov.com.
