Licensed Facility Inspections

Facilities licensed through a state regulatory agency must obtain a fire inspection through Clay County Fire Rescue.

Examples include facilities licensed by:

• Department of Children and Families (DCF)
• Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD)
• Florida Department of Education (DOE)
• Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA)

Clay County Fire Rescue provides licensed facility inspections for:

• Unincorporated Clay County, including Middleburg, Fleming Island, Keystone Heights, and Oakleaf
• The City of Green Cove Springs

How to Apply for a Licensed Facility Inspection

1. Visit the Citizen Access Portal .
2. Create an account or sign in to your existing account.
3. Click Apply in the top toolbar.
4. In the search bar, type "occupancy."
5. Select the occupancy that matches your facility's use. For example, choose Childcare Occupancy for a daycare inspection.
6. Select the appropriate occupancy-based inspection.
7. Click the blue Apply button and follow the on-screen instructions.

General Fire Safety Inspections

General fire safety inspections are available for businesses and facilities within Clay County Fire Rescue's jurisdiction that are not licensed by a state regulatory agency.

Please contact the Fire Prevention Division if you need to:

• Schedule a new periodic fire inspection.
• Request a follow-up inspection.
• Renew an existing fire permit inspection.
• Ask your fire inspector a question.

Overview

Clay County Fire Rescue (CCFR) prioritizes the safety of our community through comprehensive fire and life-safety inspections.

These inspections help ensure compliance with the Florida Fire Prevention Code (FFPC) and the Land Development Code .

Educate. Identify. Prevent.

Our inspections go beyond checking for code compliance. Fire inspectors work with property owners, business owners, and their designated representatives to identify fire hazards, explain applicable fire safety requirements, and provide guidance on maintaining a safe environment for employees, customers, and first responders.

Addressing Deficiencies

Many fire safety issues identified during an inspection can be corrected immediately. When additional time is needed, inspectors will establish a reasonable timeframe for compliance. If extenuating circumstances exist, we will work with you to develop practical solutions while maintaining public safety.

Immediate Attention Required

Some deficiencies require immediate corrective action, such as inoperable fire alarm or fire sprinkler systems. Failure to correct these critical life-safety issues may result in the temporary closure of an occupancy until the hazards have been resolved.
