With over 35 years of dedicated service in public safety and healthcare, Jairo Herrera has built his career on improving lives through leadership, expertise, and innovation. A U.S. Navy veteran, seasoned paramedic firefighter, USAR FL-TF5 member, and Registered Nurse, Jairo’s diverse background spans emergency medicine, fire suppression, trauma care, flight nursing, and community health education. He has also served as a Task Force 5 Leader, bringing critical leadership to complex rescue and disaster operations.
As Bureau Chief of the Clay County Community Paramedicine Program, Jairo leads initiatives that enhance community health, reduce unnecessary emergency responses, and address critical challenges such as opioid use disorder. Under his direction, the program continues to expand lifesaving initiatives that have delivered measurable impacts—saving lives and strengthening the overall well-being of the Clay County community.
Jairo holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Florida and an Associate Degree in Arts and Emergency Medical Services from Florida State College at Jacksonville. His service has earned him numerous honors, including military commendations and recognition for professionalism and courage within the fire service.
