Honoring Sgt. Bradley S. Crose

The Clay County Outdoor Adventure Park is located at 3829 Sergeant Bradley Crose Road in Middleburg. The road name honors one of Clay County's local heroes, Sergeant Bradley S. Crose.

In July 2023, the Board of County Commissioners invited the community to help name the new road leading to the gun range. Staff selected several prominent local individuals for consideration, and after two weeks of public voting, residents chose Sergeant Bradley Crose Road as the official name. The Board of County Commissioners approved the name during its July 2023 meeting.

Sergeant Bradley Crose served with the 1st Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He was killed in action while defending his country during Operation Anaconda near Gardez, Afghanistan, on March 4, 2002.

Sergeant Crose enlisted in the United States Army just two weeks after graduating from Orange Park High School. He completed Basic Training, Infantry Training, Airborne School, Ranger Indoctrination Program, and Ranger School at Fort Benning, Georgia.

During Operation Anaconda, the MH-47 Chinook helicopter carrying Sergeant Crose and fellow Rangers was forced down by enemy gunfire. He gave his life in service to his country, and Clay County proudly honors his sacrifice through the naming of Sergeant Bradley Crose Road.
