We do not take in horses from owners. Most horses and farm animals we get are strays or part of cruelty cases.

We try to find new homes or rescues for all farm animals—except cattle.

Cattle cannot be adopted. They are sold at an auction by the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Yes! We have a Rabies and Microchip Clinic on the first Thursday of every month from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Clay County Animal Services does not offer spay or neuter for the public.

But we do have a list of low-cost vet clinics that can help.

Clay County Animal Services does not put down (euthanize) pets for the public.

If your pet is sick or in pain, please talk to your vet about the best options.

If you cannot keep your pet, you can surrender it to us.

Please bring any medical records, microchip info, and vaccination records you have.

Clay County Animal Services does not handle wild animals.

For help with wildlife, please contact the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission or a private trapper.

You must live in Clay County to give up (surrender) a pet to us.

Kittens stay in foster care until they are old enough and healthy enough for surgery and adoption.

This can take 2 to 8 weeks.

Most kittens stay in foster care for about 4 weeks.

Clay Humane takes TNVR cats every Thursday.

Drop-off time is between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.

We accept the first 30 cats per clinic day, with a limit of 5 cats per vehicle. Participants must be Clay County residents. This is a free service.

• Kittens under 6 months old cost $25

• Cats 6 months and older cost $20

All cats go home with:

• Shots for their age

• Spay or neuter surgery

• A microchip

We suggest you take your new pet to the vet within 2 weeks to keep them healthy and up to date.

• Dogs 6 months and older cost $20

1. Look for a collar and ID tag.

2. If the pet has no ID, you can take it to a vet clinic or Clay County Animal Services (CCAS) to check for a microchip.

3.  If you can keep the animal at your home:

• Post flyers in your neighborhood.

• Check for lost pet flyers.

• Call us at 904-269-6342 to give us the pet’s info in case the owner calls.

• Email or bring us a flyer for our Lost and Found Pets book.

• Share a photo on social media and Nextdoor.

4.  If you can’t keep the animal, you may bring it to CCAS during business hours.

All dogs and cats must have:

• Food

• Clean water

• Shelter

• A rabies shot

Dogs must be:

• On a leash off the property

• Or in a fence, kennel, cage, or run

We can send an Animal Control Officer to check on the animal.
