🎓 PAWS Program

Paws for Prisoners

The PAWS program is a team effort between Clay County Animal Services and Putnam Correctional Institution.

In this program:

  • Dogs from our shelter live with inmates.

  • Inmates teach the dogs helpful skills like:

    • 🚽 House training

    • 🐕 Crate training

    • 🦮 Walking nicely on a leash

These skills help dogs find homes more easily.
It also helps make sure they stay in their new homes and don’t come back to the shelter.
