Foster Care: Appointments and Medical Help
Use the sections below to find the right next step for appointments, medical concerns, and emergencies.
I missed or need to reschedule an appointment
If you need to reschedule an appointment, please call or email as soon as possible. Medical staff may not be available if you miss your scheduled appointment time.
Please allow up to 24 hours for a response to emails or voicemails.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
Bring your foster folder to every appointment.
If you have shelter-provided foster supplies, please return them at your final appointment.
I have a medical concern during business hours
If your foster animal has a non-emergency medical concern during business hours (Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), call the main shelter line:
I have a medical concern after hours, but it can wait
If the concern can wait until the next business day, email the foster coordinator:

I have a medical emergency during business hours
If your foster animal has a medical emergency during business hours, come directly to Clay County Animal Services and call ahead:
I have a medical emergency after hours
If your foster animal has an after-hours emergency, such as being hit by a car, an animal attack, a seizure, becoming non-responsive, or having a major illness, call:
An Animal Services staff member must approve all after-hours care.

They will need the Animal ID number to authorize care, so please bring your foster folder with you.
We cannot reimburse for medical care paid by the foster parent or for visits to clinics not listed above.
