Do you love animals and want to help? Become a foster parent and care for animals in your home until they find their forever families.

Fostering helps animals grow strong, stay healthy, and feel loved while they wait for adoption.

About Clay County Animal Services

  • We care for all types of animals in need.
  • Our goal is to find loving homes for as many animals as possible.
  • Open Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Foster programs

Cat foster programs

  • Underage kittens: Need special care and feeding.
  • Medical: Cats recovering from illness or injury.
  • Fospice: Older cats needing comfort and care.

Kittens return every two weeks for check-ups. You can choose to adopt or help find them homes.

Dog foster programs

  • Free Agent: Take a dog home and help them get adopted.
  • Bow Wow Break: Spend a day or night with a dog.
  • Medical/Fospice: Care for dogs needing extra support.

Foster periods may last up to 3 months.

How to become a foster parent

  1. Fill out the online application.
  2. Tell us what animals you can care for.
  3. Wait for our foster coordinator to contact you.
  4. Start fostering once approved.

What we provide

  • Medical care: Including spay/neuter and treatments.
  • Cat supplies: Food, litter, nursing kits, blankets (when available).
  • Dog supplies: Food, beds, kennels, leashes (when available).

Note: Food bowls and litter pans are not provided.
