The Clay County Board of County Commissioners has established its number one priority as economic development. Our goal is to create initiatives for sustainable economic growth by creating job opportunities that reduce the tax burden placed on residential property owners. We will achieve this goal by focusing our efforts on industrial recruitment and retention, business development, and entrepreneurship. Clay County is well positioned to become northeast Florida’s economic hub. The County, in partnership with developers and private land owners, has established zoning and entitlements for significant commercial, office, and industrial space. With full access to land (State Highways 16, 17 and 23), air (Keystone Airpark and Clay County Port/Reynolds Park), water (1.1 miles of bulkhead and 13 piers at Clay County Port/Reynolds Park) and rail (CSX rail line), Clay County is primed for growth.

People are attracted to Clay County because of its top rated school system, low crime rate and great neighborhoods. As a result, Clay County has been one of the fastest growing counties in Florida for the last two decades. From 2000 to 2010, Clay County’s population increased from 140,000 to 190,000 residents, an increase of 35%, more than double the growth rate of Florida's overall population growth. Over the next 25 years, Clay County's population is expected to reach nearly 300,000, again far outpacing the projected growth rate of the State of Florida.

The Board’s partnerships with the Clay County Chamber of Commerce, the Clay County Development Authority and Choose Clay, serves as a catalyst for government/business collaboration to promote and market Clay County as a highly competitive location for attracting and retaining diversified businesses.
