CLAY COUNTY ROAD AND LANE CLOSURE UPDATE

July 11 through July 17, 2020

New County Projects

CR 315C from CR214 to Putnam County Line- 2.74-mile project includes lane widening, adding paved shoulders, modifying driveway culverts, and resurfacing with a high friction overlay to reduce skid hazards.  The existing pavement cross slope will be corrected to improve drainage and prevent roadway ponding. New roadway striping and signage upgrades will also improve nighttime driving conditions.  Roadwork will begin on Monday, July 13, and is expected to be substantially complete in April of 2021.    

Ongoing County Projects

Haven Road in Green Cove Springs- There will be a full detour between Orion Road and Pringle Circle for a drainpipe replacement project that is expected to start late-July. The project will take approximately 6 weeks to complete. 

Lake Shore Drive North- Intermediate lane closure on weekdays from 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. for utility installation.

Wesley Road in Lake Asbury- There will be a full detour between Dow Court and Branscomb Road for a drainpipe replacement project will start Monday, July13, 2020. The project will take approximately 6 weeks to complete. 

FDOT Projects

Blanding Blvd Widening Project- Between Allie Murray Road and Long Bay Road- A new alignment of Long Bay Road and Blanding Boulevard will open to traffic Monday, July 13. On Tuesday, July 14, a segment of County Road 220 West at Blanding Boulevard will close to traffic for several months as the contractor constructs a new alignment at this intersection. Motorists will be detoured via Long Bay Road and Blanding Boulevard.

Governors Creek Bridge- FDOT project to add sidewalks and make other improvements to U.S. 17 on the Governors Creek Bridge is expected to begin construction on July 6. Project is expected to take place during both daytime and overnight hours, Monday through Friday, with periodic lane closures. No lane closures on U.S. 17 will be permitted between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. seven days a week.

SR 21 Between Keystone Heights and Melrose- Resurfacing project to begin in May 2020 on the 6.5 mile stretch between the Putnam County line, just north of Melrose to north of Commercial Circle in Keystone Heights.  The project will include shoulder widening, sidewalk and drainage improvements, and other incidental construction. Motorists should anticipate daytime and nighttime construction activities throughout the course of the project. Construction is expected to be completed Spring 2021.

First Coast Expressway Work FDOT

Blanding Boulevard from Black Creek Bridge to Allie Murray Road- Daytime southbound lane closures through Saturday, July 18, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. for road work.

County Road 209 east of U.S. 17- Daytime lane closures with flaggers weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for road work.

Sandridge Road from State Road 23 to Rolling View Boulevard- Daytime lane closures with flaggers Monday, July 13 through Saturday, July 18, 2020, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for road work.

Springbank Road just south of State Road 16- Daytime lane closures with flaggers weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and nighttime road closures weeknights from 6 p.m. to 6:30 am for road work.

U.S. 17 south of Green Cove Springs- Daytime lane closures weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and nighttime lane closures from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. for road work.
