Clay County's newest major county road is set to open Saturday, August 9, offering Clay County residents a faster, more convenient way to travel across the county.

Cathedral Oak Parkway is a newly constructed, five-mile county road spanning from Shadowlawn Elementary School to the First Coast Expressway and continuing to near U.S. 17 in Green Cove Springs.

The project was designed to improve daily commutes, ease congestion, and provide a more direct route through the heart of the county.

Crews will start opening preparations early Saturday morning. The new parkway is set to open Saturday afternoon, in coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation’s launch of the First Coast Expressway.

The County broke ground on the parkway in August 2023. This road is part of the County's Bonded Transportation Program, which includes seven major road projects aimed to improve traffic congestion and public safety in anticipation of the First Coast Expressway.
