CLAY COUNTY, Fla. --

New Heavy Rescue 15 is a rolling toolbox on wheels.

It is designed to carry the specialized equipment needed to respond to extrications, structural collapses, trench and confined space incidents, as well as high angle and other technical rescue events.

It replaces a 20-year-old unit.

Built in 2023, this vehicle was purchased from another agency at a fraction of the cost of a new one—helping us strengthen our fleet while being smart with our budget.

At an appraised value of almost $900K, we purchased it in January for well under $800K.

We placed it into service with Clay County Fire Rescue just a few days ago.

The budgeted price for a new unit of this type was estimated between $1.2 and $1.5 million, with a build time of 18 to 24 months, creating significant savings to the County in both dollars and time.

With these cost savings, we are able to refurbish an older Water Tender, extending its usable life.

This is all a key part of our ongoing commitment to staying well-equipped, responsible, and resourceful in serving our community.
