Free Pet Vaccinations Available for Clay County Residents

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — Clay County Animal Services (CCAS) will provide free vaccinations for pets owned by Clay County residents. The no-cost vaccines are made possible through Petco Love's national vaccination initiative Vaccinated and Loved, which offers free pet vaccines to animal welfare partners like CCAS.

Parvovirus and distemper in dogs and panleukopenia in cats — the most common deadly diseases affecting pets — are preventable with simple vaccines. However, around 30% of pet owners do not take their pets to a veterinarian each year for preventive care. To address this, Clay County Animal Services and Petco Love are working together to make vaccines more accessible and free of charge.

Clay County Animal Services aims to vaccinate 250–500 pets through this program. Vaccines distributed include DAPPv for dogs and HCP for cats. “Thanks to Petco Love, we can offer these critical vaccines at no cost to Clay County residents,” said Ernest Hagan, Director of Clay County Animal Services. “We urge our neighbors to use this free resource to protect their pets.”

“Vaccinations are vital to protecting our beloved pets from life-threatening but preventable diseases,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “Our goal is to break down financial barriers and strengthen the human-animal bond by making vaccines accessible to all pet owners.”

In November 2024, Petco Love’s Vaccinated and Loved initiative reached its milestone of delivering three million free pet vaccines. The campaign, launched in August 2021, continues to grow with the goal of providing an additional one million free vaccines through local partners.
