The Clay County Board of County Commissioners encourages students to submit applications for two scholarships sponsored by Waste Management. The deadline is Monday, March 31, 2025. Please refer to details about both scholarships below.
Scholarship #1 for Clay County high school seniors
This scholarship will be awarded to high school seniors accepted to a post-secondary education program, including 2 or 4-year colleges and technical schools.
Scholarships will cover tuition costs. Scholarship recipients will be notified based on funding availability.
Eligibility Requirements
• The student must be a Clay County resident.
• The student must be accepted to the program for which they are seeking funding.
Award Criteria
• Students must complete a scholarship application and submit a short personal essay (250 – 500 words), a copy of their current school transcript, and one letter of recommendation.
• School transcripts, letters of recommendation, and participation in community service activities, as well as extracurricular activities, may all be considered during the scholarship award selection process.
• Applications are due on Monday, March 31, 2025 and applicants can either fill out the online form (Clay County Board of County Commissioners Scholarship Application for Post-Secondary Programs) or download the form (https://bit.ly/3CJyFyI), fill it out, and hand-deliver it to the Clay County Grants Department located at 420 College Drive, Suite 107, Middleburg, FL by the end of business on Monday, March 31, 2025.
Scholarship # 2 for Clay County 4-H program students
This scholarship is for individuals who are accepted to or currently enrolled in a 4-H program at the Clay County/UF IFAS Extension Office.
These scholarships will fully cover the selected applicants’ program costs.
Eligibility Requirements
• The student must be a Clay County resident.
• The student must either be a new 4-H member in new standing or have completed a record book in the prior year.
Scholarship recipients are expected to:
• Attend 70% of their primary 4-H club meetings from Monday, September 1 - Wednesday, April 30.
• Complete and submit a Clay County 4-H Record Book by May of each year (the deadline will vary).
• Give a public presentation at the club level or higher between Thursday, May 1 - April 30.
• Submit a thank you note and follow-up report about the impact the scholarship had on attending the 4-H event.
• Present to a group about the experience the 4-H event provided to you.
Award Criteria
• Scholarships may cover registration costs for the following programs:
‣ 4-H Summer Day Camp
‣ 4-H Residential Summer Camp
‣ 4-H Day at the Capitol
‣ 4-H Legislature at the Capitol
