Clay County Emergency Management continues to monitor Potential Tropical Cyclone #4 (Invest 97L)
At this time, Potential Tropical Cyclone #4 is not a depression or a tropical storm, but it has the potential to become one.
With the storm undefined, it has been challenging to predict its track and direction. However, we are confident that it will become more defined as it comes into the Gulf on Saturday.
Models indicate that there is a possibility that this storm will pass over Clay County and northeast Florida, with rains beginning late Saturday evening and potentially getting worse through Sunday. If the storm does move across Clay County, it is expected to produce heavy rains that can affect low-lying areas prone to flooding, including the Black Creek, the North and South Prongs, and along the St. Johns River.
Clay County Emergency Management will continue to monitor these areas over the weekend for flood conditions.
