Meeting our strategic plan goals

The County’s strategic plan incorporates current departmental plans, regional perspectives, citizen engagement, and future growth, and serves as a framework for managing County operations. The plan includes a variety of measurable actions, and progress updates are provided to the Board every quarter. In the last quarter, there were notable increases in social media engagement, newsletter sign-ups, grant revenue, and recreational acres and programs for residents. The county also improved permit review times, increased building inspections, and decreased fire rescue response times. You can read the Clay County Strategic Plan and learn more about how we are meeting and even exceeding our strategic plan goals at the 28:51-minute mark.

Serving our community through Community Development Block Grants

The Commissioners held the final public hearing to consider the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Annual Action Plan for the fiscal year 2024-2025. Public input favored using funds for infrastructure improvements and home rehabilitation projects. The proposed budget allocates 61% for street improvements and sidewalk replacement and 35% for home rehabilitation projects. The Commissioners approved the plan and the proposed spending of CDBG funds. An estimated $1 million in funding will be available to implement housing and community development projects throughout the County beginning in October 2024. Learn more about how these funds are serving our residents at the 59:12-minute mark.

Residents will see no increase in millage for fiscal year 2024-2025

The proposed Clay County Budget for the fiscal year 2024-2025 requires ad valorem taxation to support county-wide operations and non-county-wide MSTUs. The Commissioners adopted a Resolution by a unanimous vote certifying the current and proposed millage of 8.601 for the fiscal year 2024-2025, which means there will be no increase in the millage rate from the last fiscal year. The first tentative budget hearing is scheduled for September 10, 2024, at 5:05 P.M., and the final public hearing for September 24, 2024, at 5:05 P.M. Both hearings will be held at the Clay County Administration
