Here are some topics from the last Board of County Commissioners meeting. If you want to know more about what was discussed and decided, you can read the agendas and minutes as they get posted. You can watch the meeting in full on our Facebook page or website.
Investing in our public safety
Commissioners approved Resolution 2023/2024-57 for the issuance of County Surtax Revenue Bonds Series 2024 for financing the cost of the acquisition and construction of public safety and fire suppression facilities including fire stations, fire towers, and training facilities construction or improvements. The fully registered Bonds will be available for sale to the public in denominations of $5,000 on June 25. Funding these needed facilities through Sales Surtax Revenue Bonds allows the County to make large capital improvements now while spreading substantial costs over a large period and offering the best value for the taxpayers. You can read the bond resolution attached to the meeting agenda and listen to the discussion beginning at the 56:34-minute mark.
Governors Park South Community Development District established
Commissioners held a public hearing on a petition from Governors Park Property Holdings, LLC to establish the Governors Park South Community Development District (CDD). The request includes Board approval to establish the CDD for the 2,045-acre community southwest of Green Cove Springs as outlined in the Florida Statutes and consent to allow the CDD to manage parks, recreation facilities, and security aligned with all County ordinances. Following approval of the petition, Commissioners held a public hearing and adopted an ordinance creating the Governors Park South CDD. If you would like to learn more about the establishment process, you can watch the presentation and discussion at the 1:08:47-minute time stamp.
Serving our residents through Community Development Block Grants
Commissioners held the first public hearing to consider the FY 24-25 Community Development Block Grant Annual Action Plan. The County is estimated to receive $1 million from the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department which can fund housing rehabilitation projects and public infrastructure projects such as sidewalk installations and community cleanups. Commissioners want to hear from residents about the improvements they want. The public comment period began June 11 and runs through July 10. There will be three public outreach meetings to receive input. Meetings were set at the Keystone Beach Pavilion at 6 p.m. on June 17; the Middleburg Library at 6 p.m. on June 18; and the Orange Park Library at 6 p.m. on June 27. Comments can also be given by calling 904-541-3814 or emailing cdbg@claycountygov.com. All public input and the proposed Annual Action Plan will be brought back to the Board during the final public hearing at the July 23 BCC Meeting. You can view the draft annual action plan on our website or at any of our public libraries. Listen to the discussion starting at 1:21:25.
