GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. - It's that time of year when kids are on a break from school, and families may be looking for a good reason to spend some time outdoors.
Well, why not spend the day outside with a shelter dog?
Families can do this through a program called Bow Wow Breakouts, or the Bow Wow Breakout Club.
We have a video explanation here:
How does it work?
1. Our staff matches a person/family with a dog.*
2. They fill out a form.
3. They're now ready to go exploring with their new adventure buddy!
* The dog comes with a backpack which carries a blanket, poop bags, a toy, treats, poop bags, a harness and a leash.
How do Bow Wow Breakouts help the dogs?
• Our dogs love to meet new people and Bow Wow Breakouts gives them the chance to do that. • They give dogs new experiences outside the shelter. • They can help dogs meet potential adopters out and about. • They give shelter staff a better idea of what the dog’s personality is like, so they can match the dog with the perfect owner.
These days out help the dogs decompress and relax, and anyone can turn it into a fun break outside for the whole family!
