Offering our seniors healthy meals in a safe, friendly environment
Clay County senior centers offer free, healthy meals cooked locally at the newly remodeled commercial kitchen at the Clayton and Mildred Revels Senior Center in Green Cove Springs. Meals for all four Clay senior centers and home-delivered meal clients are now prepared right in Clay County, where previously, they were made in Jacksonville and transported to Clay County. Last year, 62,400 meals were provided in the centers, and 21,000 meals were delivered to home-bound seniors. Read the article in our newsroom and watch the video. The discussion starts at 12:40 if you would like to listen.
Extending the moratorium on increased residential density in the Lake Asbury Master Plan area
Commissioners extended the moratorium on land use and rezoning applications for increased residential densities in the Lake Asbury Master Plan area through December 2024. The moratorium delays the submission of applications for land-use amendments to the Clay County 2040 Comprehensive Plan or rezoning changes to increase the number of homes that can be built in Lake Asbury. The purpose is to give the county a chance to complete roadway capacity improvements needed for public health and safety before considering increased density in the area. Listen to the discussion at 57:50.
Commissioners welcome a new BCC Chair and BCC Vice Chair
Congratulations to the new BCC Chair, District 3 Commissioner Jim Renninger, and new BCC Vice Chair District 1 Commissioner Mike Cella. Commissioners nominated and unanimously approved the reorganization, and the new chair and vice chair will assume their duties at the December 12 BCC Meeting. Commissioners thanked the outgoing Chair Betsy Condon for her hard work and dedication over the past year. The discussion starts at 4:43:57 if you would like to watch.
