Successful grant applications bring significant returns on county investments
In FY23, Clay County received $19.7 million in new grant funding due to the successful efforts of the grants department. This total does not include the $4.5 million in state legislative appropriations we received for the substance abuse recovery center and two fire stations. Additionally, FDOT intends to fund a $17 million request for the next phase of the Greenway Trail expansion through Clay County to Goldhead Branch State Park. For every dollar invested in the operations of the grants department, the county receives a significant return of $61. If you are interested in learning more, the discussion starts at 54:36.
Proposed retail store in Keystone Heights not approved
The application for land use and rezoning changes for a new retail store on State Road 100 next to Circle K in Keystone Heights did not move forward. The application was viewed by the Board as incompatible with the surrounding area and members of the community expressed their opposition to the proposed project. Helping legislators understand projects important to our residents
The Clay County Board of County Commissioners determined several projects and corresponding appropriation requests to be relayed to State Legislators for the 2024 legislative session. The Board based these projects on the County's needs and on aspects that will positively impact the quality of life for the people who call Clay County home. The categories for the requested funds include infrastructure and resiliency, trails, parks, and lakes, and public safety.
