People using the passport can also check in at each location to work towards free prizes!

May is Clay County History Month, so the Clay County Department of Tourism has partnered with the Clay County Archives, Clay County District Schools, and the technology company Bandwango to launch this new feature to engage neighbors and visitors with local businesses and landmarks.

Through this passport and its unique glimpse into Clay County's history, everyone can celebrate the heritage of our local communities and the stories they have to tell.  Users will discover tales of strength, courage, perseverance, and legacy. Participants can check in at each location to work toward free prizes like historic Clay County postcards and waterproof phone carriers through June 15th.

Some facts they'll learn about, include answers to the following:

- What was built by the same company that built the Empire State Building?
- What made Southern rock music legendary?
- Which natural resource was bottled and sold as medicine?
- Which parks changed the foundation of the area?
- Who changed the course of history by doing things that had never been done before?

Visitors and locals can sign up for the Clay County History Passport at the Explore Clay County History Passport web page.

The sign-up process will ask them to provide their name, e-mail address, and mobile phone number. The website will then send a link to their phone (via text and email), which opens the passport and directs the user to instantly add the passport button to their home screen. This process is quick, doesn’t involve any downloads, and avoids taking up space on the user’s phone. You can easily download the instructions for the Clay County History Passport.
