On Tuesday, March 28, state and local officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Clay County Regional Sports Complex.

Here are some facts about the park:

• It is located on 250 acres near the intersection of State Roads 16 and 21 by Belmore State Forest.
• It will be the first of its kind in Clay County, with eight multi-purpose fields. It will also include ponds, sidewalks, walking trails, shade sails, a parking lot, restrooms, and a monument sign.
• It will be an asset in bringing our county's families and our young people outdoors and onto the field. 
• It will be a tourism draw, marketable to regional tournaments.
• Completion of Phase 1 is estimated to cost $7.2 million, which includes $3 million in legislative matching funds.
• Completion of Phase 1 is expected this November, and we anticipate our residents being able to use it in early 2024.
