Commission Bids Farewell to Two-Term Commissioner Wayne Bolla
Commissioner Compere replaces outgoing two-term commissioner Wayne Bolla who presided over his last BCC meeting on Wednesday, November 9 as Chairman. Commissioner Bolla has faithfully served Clay County residents since he was first elected as District 2 Commissioner in November 2014. He served as Chairman in 2017 and 2022, and his second term on the Board came to an end on November 21, 2022.
Former Chairman Bolla’s legacy of working with the Board to improve infrastructure, fund major public safety initiatives, and improve recreational opportunities will be enjoyed by Clay County residents for generations to come.
While serving as BCC Chairman, he helped secure legislative appropriations for three key projects including the expansion of the Clay County Jail, continued funding for the SWEAT juvenile intervention program, and the Northeast Florida Greenway Trail project, which will connect the Jax/Baldwin Rails to Trail to the Lake Butler/Palatka Trail. Additionally, Chairman Bolla worked with the Board to secure American Rescue Plan Act funding for major drainage projects including Pine Ridge and Indigo Branch, and numerous community paving and drainage improvement projects throughout Clay County. He also led the effort to secure additional funding to cover inflationary costs in the Bonded Transportation Program and led the Board through the process of modernizing the Land Development Code, enhancing broadband infrastructure, revising the sign and animal ordinances, and developing county-wide comprehensive roads, drainage, and solid waste master plans.
Outgoing District 2 Commissioner Wayne Bolla was recognized at the November 9 BCC Meeting
