Mike Pafford, formerly at Eagle Harbor and currently at the Golf Club at Fleming Island, sees a similar composition in the soil of the courses in Northeast Florida. While each course has a varied standard for care and maintenance, overall Clay County ranks high among golfers.

One of the most stunning natural golf courses in Clay County is Eagle Harbor. Carved into a forest of 60-foot-high pine trees, the Eagle Harbor Golf Club is high-lighted by the beauty and challenge of numerous bodies of water. Tee off with bald eagles hunting while you golf.

The Golf Club at Fleming Island provides players with a challenging design and diverse backdrops of native wetland, dense timbers, and waste areas. Golf Digest ranked #5 "Best New Affordable Public Golf Course in the United States". "It has more variety hole to hole than any other course in the area. Nine of our holes have water, we're tight and challenging," said Bill Girson, golf pro at Fleming Island Golf Club.

Renovations abound at Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club located in Green Cove Springs. Magnolia recently became open to the public on a semi-private basis. They are nearing completion of a third 9-hole addition to the beautiful and slightly sloped 18-hole course. Their signature hole is #3 a 375-yard par 4 over the water.

Orange Park Country Club is an exclusive private facility characterized by a secluded natural setting with 18 holes of championship golf. They recently hosted the Michelob Ultra Orange Park Open, a National Golf Association tour event put on in conjunction with Hooters.
