Appointments for the 2013/2014 Charter Reveiw Commission
Section 4.2B(1) of the Clay County Home Rule Charter (the Charter) requires that the Board of County Commissioners (the Board) appoint a Charter Review Commission (CRC) consisting of fifteen (15) electors as members and five (5) additional electors as alternate members of the County at least twelve months prior to the general election occurring in 1994 and in every fourth year thereafter. The next general election in the four-year cycle will occur in November 2014. Anyone interested in serving on the CRC must fill out the on-line committee application and submit it for the Board’s consideration at a future BCC meeting. Media Release - Possible Dam Failure - Wrights Lake
Wright’s Lake Dam, a private 40 acre manmade lake located off County Road 315, has suffered significant undermining and a substantial headwall collapse from successive heavy rainfall events. While the dam‘s owner is undertaking emergency efforts to shore up the failing headwall, a sudden collapse and release of the dam’s volume into Peter’s Creek is possible over the next few days.
Notice of Funds Availability Housing Preservation Grant- Applications Due August 2, 2013
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced that USDA is accepting applications for grants to help low- and very-low-income rural residents repair their homes. USDA remains focused on carrying out its mission, despite a time of significant budget uncertainty. Today's announcement is one part of the Department's efforts to strengthen the rural economy. July 4th Holiday Schedule for Garbage and Recyclables Collection
On Thursday, July 4, 2013 Advanced Disposal Services will collect residential wastes and recyclables as usual. Please remember to place materials at the curb before 6:00 am. In observance of the July 4th Holiday on Thursday, July 4th the Environmental Convenience Centers will be closed. For your convenience the Rosemary Hill Solid Waste Management Facility will be open from 7:30 AM to 5:30PM.
SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans Available in Florida
The U.S. Small Business Administration announced today that federal economic injury disaster loans are available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private non-profit organizations of all sizes located in Florida as a result of the excessive rain, high winds, hail, lightning and tornadoes on May 2-5, 2013. May 28th BCC Meeting Possibly Not Broadcasted/Streamed
The May 28th BCC Meeting scheduled at 2:00 PM will possibly not be broadcasted on the Clay Community Channel or streamed through www.claycountygov.com due to audio issues. The County is currently working on the problem. The meeting will still be recorded and audio versions will be available on cd for those wanting a copy of the meeting.

Memorial Day Waste and Recyclables Pick-Up Schedule
On Monday, May 27, 2013 Memorial Day, Advanced Disposal Services will collect wastes and recyclables as usual. Please remember to place materials at the curb before 6:00 am. Rosemary Hill Solid Waste Management Facility will open at the regularly scheduled time (7:30 AM) and will close at 5:30 PM.
Fill the Boot for Muscular Dystrophy!
The Clay County Fire and Rescue will once again hit the streets and fill their boots to benefit local families affected by Muscular Dystrophy. May is ALS Awareness Month (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and this boot drive is dedicated to those affected by this horrific disease. Clay County Firefighters will be out at the following intersections over Memorial Day Weekend (May 24 through May 26th): Blanding and Wells, SR100 & SR21, SR21 & SR218, and SR17 & SR220

Clay County Skywarn Class
On June 14, 2013, from 6:30 to 8:30pm the Jax National Weather Service will be teaching a Skywarn class at the Clay County Emergency Operations Center, located at 2519 SR16 West. This event is open to the public. Skywarn introduces what to look for during severe weather events. The class gives a BASIC understanding of weather and its impacts to our area. Rose Claridydavis is our new County Veterans Service Officer. The VSO office has recently relocated with easy access to the second floor of the Clay County Administrative Building at 477 Houston, Street. Green Cove Springs, Fl 32043. As a result of the freezes and frosts, which occurred February 17th 2013 – March 4, 2013, Clay County was among the contiguous counties designated by the State of Florida as having suffered Economic Injury and thus eligible for Economic Injury Disaster Loans for small businesses and agricultural cooperatives.
