New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, December 31, 2013, will be open. New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1, 2014, will close at 3:30 PM. Deadline Approaching in North Florida for SBA Working Capital Loans
The U.S. Small Business Administration is reminding small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private non-profit organizations of all sizes that Dec. 3, 2013 is the filing deadline for federal economic injury disaster loans in North Florida as a result of the freeze and frost between Feb. 17 and March 4, 2013. The loans are available in the following Florida counties: Alachua, Bradford, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Marion, Putnam, Saint Johns and Volusia. Under this declaration, the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program is available to eligible farm-related and nonfarm-related entities that suffered financial losses as a direct result of this disaster. With the exception of aquaculture enterprises, SBA cannot provide disaster loans to agricultural producers, farmers, or ranchers. Applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela. Disaster loan information and application forms may also be obtained by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 (800-877-8339 for the deaf and hard-of-hearing) or by sending an email to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. Loan applications can be downloaded from the SBA’s website at www.sba.gov/disaster. Clay County Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Amnesty Day for the City of Keystone Heights and Surrounding Area
The Clay County Board of County Commissioners, the Department of Environmental Services and the City of Keystone Heights encourage all Clay County residents to participate in the 2013 America Recycles Day Fall Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Amnesty Day. Residents are asked to bring all household hazardous wastes including; paint, pesticides, pool chemicals, oil, anti-freeze, drain cleaners and paint thinner to the old Clay County Health Department in Keystone Heights, November 23, 2013. Electronic wastes will also be accepted and these items include; computers, monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, modems, cables, cell phones, pagers and hand-held devices. Wastes will be collected from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Amnesty Day is for Clay County residents only and proper identification will be required. Absolutely no commercial wastes will be accepted. Residents in areas closer to Rosemary Hill Solid Waste Management Facility should be aware that e-waste and household hazardous wastes are accepted at our facility Monday – Saturday from 7:30am to 5:30pm. First Annual Clay County Animal Expo
Animal Care & Control will be participating in the First Annual Clay County Animal Expo at the Clay County Fairgrounds, September 21, 2013 from 10 am to 3pm. This annual event is sponsored by the Friends of Clay County Animals non-profit organization. Appointments for the 2013/2014 Charter Reveiw Commission
Section 4.2B(1) of the Clay County Home Rule Charter (the Charter) requires that the Board of County Commissioners (the Board) appoint a Charter Review Commission (CRC) consisting of fifteen (15) electors as members and five (5) additional electors as alternate members of the County at least twelve months prior to the general election occurring in 1994 and in every fourth year thereafter. The next general election in the four-year cycle will occur in November 2014. Anyone interested in serving on the CRC must fill out the on-line committee application and submit it for the Board’s consideration at a future BCC meeting. Media Release - Possible Dam Failure - Wrights Lake
Wright’s Lake Dam, a private 40 acre manmade lake located off County Road 315, has suffered significant undermining and a substantial headwall collapse from successive heavy rainfall events. While the dam‘s owner is undertaking emergency efforts to shore up the failing headwall, a sudden collapse and release of the dam’s volume into Peter’s Creek is possible over the next few days.

July 4th Holiday Schedule for Garbage and Recyclables Collection
On Thursday, July 4, 2013 Advanced Disposal Services will collect residential wastes and recyclables as usual. Please remember to place materials at the curb before 6:00 am. In observance of the July 4th Holiday on Thursday, July 4th the Environmental Convenience Centers will be closed. For your convenience the Rosemary Hill Solid Waste Management Facility will be open from 7:30 AM to 5:30PM.

Fill the Boot for Muscular Dystrophy!
The Clay County Fire and Rescue will once again hit the streets and fill their boots to benefit local families affected by Muscular Dystrophy. May is ALS Awareness Month (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and this boot drive is dedicated to those affected by this horrific disease. Clay County Skywarn Class
On June 14, 2013, from 6:30 to 8:30pm the Jax National Weather Service will be teaching a Skywarn class at the Clay County Emergency Operations Center, located at 2519 SR16 West. This event is open to the public. Skywarn introduces what to look for during severe weather events. The class gives a BASIC understanding of weather and its impacts to our area.
