Thanksgiving Solid Waste Collection Schedule

Residents whose regular pickup is on Thursday will receive pickup service the Friday after Thanksgiving. Residents whose regular pickup is on Friday will receive pickup service the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Rosemary Hill Solid Waste Management Facility as well as the Environmental Convenience Centers will be closed Thanksgiving day.

Keystone Heights Community Development Block Grant Housing Rehabiliation

The City of Keystone Heights is seeking applicants to participate in a Community Development Block Grant Housing Rehabilitation program to assist homeowners with repairs. This program is designed to perform general code related repairs and improvements for very low and low and moderate-income homeowners. Items eligible for repair include roofs, heating systems, plumbing, electrical and other code related housing systems at no cost to the homeowner. Currently, the City has funds available to assist a limited number of homeowners. Click on title for more information.

Small Business Administration Assistance Available to Tropical Storm Debby Victims in Clay County

In the wake of Tropical Storm Debby, the Small Business Administration has made available loan assistance available to eligible Clay County disaster victims. Examples of said loans include disaster loans up to $200,000 available to homeowners to repair or replace disaster damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters may also be eligible for up to $40,000 in loans to repair or replace disaster damaged or destroyed personal property. For further information, please click the above title.

Clay County Mosquito Control Information

Due to a significant increase the area’s mosquito population due to Tropical Storms Beryl and Debby, Clay County has been forced to increase its mosquito control efforts. In doing so, the county has enlisted additional state resources to assist with ground and aerial spraying in order to supplement existing spraying efforts done by the county. The county will continue to step up its vector control efforts until mosquito populations demonstrate an acceptable reduction. For more detailed information please click the above title.

FAC Awards Clay County Commissioner Doug Conkey with the Presidential Advocacy Award

The Florida Association of Counties presented Clay County Commissioner Douglas Conkey with the Presidential Advocacy Award during the 2012 FAC Annual Conference & Exposition in Orange County. The Presidential Advocacy Award is presented to those commissioners who show a commitment to protecting local control and advocating on behalf of home rule in Tallahassee.
“It is truly an honor to receive this recognition by the Florida Association of Counties,” stated Commissioner Conkey. “Over the past six years as District 2 Commissioner, I have strived to support efforts to maintain or enhance the high quality of life we enjoy in Northeast Florida. Florida Hardest-Hit Program

The federal government has allocated funding to help pay the mortgages of qualified homeowners who are unemployed or underemployed through no fault of their own. The Florida Hardest-Hit Fund (HHF) program aims to assist qualified Florida homeowners by providing mortgage assistance for up to 12 months (capped at $24,000), or until the homeowner finds adequate employment to resume paying the mortgage (whichever comes first), with up to $18,000 available to reinstate a delinquent first mortgage prior to payments being made. Additionally, for a homeowner who is recovering from unemployment/underemployment, up to $25,000 is available as a one-time payment to reinstate a delinquent first mortgage. Clay County’s Solid Waste Franchising and Collection Ordinance (90-24) allows for Receptacles and Bundles for Hand Pickup Service to be placed at the curb prior to 6:00 a.m. on the day of collection. In no case, however, shall Receptacles or Bundles be placed on public right-of-way more than twelve (12) hours preceding the day of collection. Please click title for more details.
