"Our Mission, through
the delivery of programs and services, is to protect the lives and
property of our citizens and visitors from the adverse effects of fire,
medical, environmental, and other emergencies, both natural and
man-made, while providing a safe and healthy work place."
The Clay County Department
of Public Safety oversees operation of 14 fire stations, 8 Advanced Life
Support (ALS) ambulances, over 130 dual certified career personnel, and
approximately 75 county volunteers. A support staff of 17 ensures
further public safety through emergency management, fire prevention,
community relations, and fire code enforcement. Nine Emergency Medical
Dispatch (EMD) trained Communications Specialist received and handled
over 12,000 emergency calls last year.
