National Food Day

National Food Day As part of our Million Pounds Initiative, we are going to participate in the National Food Day that is scheduled for Friday, October 24. This is a national event that focuses on eating healthy foods and increasing sustainability as it relates to locally grown foods. We hope that some of you will partner with the health department in this initiative. For further information on Food Day please visit the website www.foodday.org

Local Mitigation Strategy Meeting

Clay County’s current Local Mitigation Strategy plan was adopted in 2010, it is required that the LMS is updated every five (5) years. The County is beginning the 2015 Plan update process and wants your input! Public input is a key part of the process. Residents are asked to comment on any project currently listed in the plan and suggest other projects not currently being considered. Residents and community stakeholders also are invited to attend Local Mitigation Strategy Working Group meetings and become involved. The kick off meeting to the LMS update is scheduled directly following the quarterly taskforce meeting on Tuesday, September 9th at 10:30 am, held at the Clay County Emergency Operations Center, located at 2519 State Road 16 west, Green Cove Springs (on the Clay County Fairgrounds property. The meeting will provide residents throughout Clay County, including Green Cove Springs, Keystone Heights, Orange Park and Penney Farms, information about the 2015 update to Clay County’s Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS). Lane and Road Closures

Mallard Road Cross Drain Replacement Project - A section of Mallard Road (between CR 218 and Muscovy Road) will be closed to through traffic starting September 15, 2014 thru late fall of 2014. The road closure is needed to facilitate the replacement of an existing drainage pipe. A Portable Changeable Message Board will be provided for early notification.
